Uses of Flickr, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter in teaching and learning.

Introduction

Social media networks such as Flicker, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter provide an opportunity for instructors or teachers to utilize popular mobile technology to create a discussion with students. Social media portals dominating globally include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Among the Internet users, the largest segment of the recipients of information services for social media portals is young people, many of whom are still students of primary and secondary schools as well as students studying at universities. As a result, social media portals used as a communication medium by students are increasingly becoming an instrument supporting the learning process.

Lesson

Today we are going to learn about Flicker, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter in teaching and learning.  

Objectives 

At the end of this unit the student should be able to:

  • Define Flickr, Students will be able to add, edit, or delete any photos to Flickr and create their page that can then be shared with other students and teachers. 

  • Understand and be able to explain the purpose of LinkedIn, be able to create an account, and fill out their profile information. Access information in all the basic tabs: Home, Profile, Contacts, Groups, Jobs, Inbox. Access and independently set LinkedIn Settings.  

  • Define Instagram, Use Instagram to compose a short narrative writing piece, and Take a picture of students re-creating a famous piece of art.

  • Define Twitter, to create social and professional learning networks.

Flickr is a photo-sharing platform and social network where users upload photos for others to see. Users create a free account and upload their photos (and videos) to share with friends and followers online. LinkedIn 

LinkedIn is a social network that focuses on professional networking and career development. provides access to more high-quality on-demand courses. LinkedIn encourages learners to develop an online presence through LinkedIn. Create assignments that utilize LinkedIn as a research tool. Design activities around LinkedIn interviews. Share the networking benefits of LinkedIn with learners. Develop a LinkedIn group to keep learners up-to-date and connected. Instagram 

Instagram is a social media platform that emphasizes photo and video sharing via its mobile app. You can take, edit, and publish visual content for your followers to interact with thorough likes, comments, and shares. Twitter

Twitter is a social network portal that allows you to send and receive short posts called tweets. Tweets can be up to 140 characters long and can include links to relevant websites and resources. Twitter users follow other users. Twitter is useful across academic applications. Teachers, students, and parents can benefit greatly from the advantages offered by using Twitter in education. The short tweets can be used to inform students about any changes and to collaboratively work as a great team. Activity 

  • Download Flickr, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter then create your accounts. 

  • Use Flickr to upload images and videos and share it with your teacher and your colleagues.
