Training Course Reflection

Weak 1 to Week 4

Learned

It was a good course for me because I learned a lot about teaching and learning online. The first day I learned about Day one, Diigo which I use for bookmarking then I learned about using TinyURL to shorten long links which is awesome because it avoids posting long URL links. I also learn to use Grammarly to correct my paragraph or wrongly spelled words so that my writing will have correct grammar.

I also learned to use social media apps in teaching and learning which are WhatsApp, telegram, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and they are good apps because students were able to share their work in a group and have comments on that someone work. It’s an easy-to-understand lesson because everyone is participating and share his or her thought. I learn to create a blogger where I post my work I done and anything about me and share the link to everyone so that he or she will view what I had posted.

I learned to use google meet, zoom and Microsoft teams to host lessons and attend a lesson. This is good because I teach students away from the classroom at the same time. They are good apps to use for meetings because you see all that is happening and you see what a teacher is teaching live.

I also learn about 21-century skills which are a skill that improves my ICT skill using different applications. I learn to use citations to site any work I write to avoid plagiarism. I learn about OER which provide educational information and assignment rubric which give guideline to a student on what expected to the assignment the write.

I also learned to do work in groups, which require any member to participate to be able to understand that assignment given and it makes the work easy as we don’t do much of the work, we dived it and each member does his or work and it makes us a finished lot of work on time.  

All that I learned is meaningful because it helps the teachers to provide quality lessons to learners and also help students to respond to their lessons. The apps I leaned are good because it enables teaching and learning online effective because it provides good communication between the teacher and the students. Reflecting on each lesson is meaningful because the teachers will know that did the learners understands the lesson or not and sharing thought able the lessons.

Problem I faced

This training requires a lot of data bundles thus I sometimes miss other classes because of insufficient data. When you don’t have internet access at that time you miss some lessons and it’s a challenge because some lessons were done on zoom at once. The phone and the computer need electricity and when the battery is off and the electricity is off, we are miss some classes because our phones have been off. A lot of work we were given thus we end up submitting work not fully done because we were rushing for time to do other work.

Acknowledgments

I would like to thank Mr. Simon Maseko and Mr. Mcolisi Dlamini our facilitators for giving us the lesson and able to give feedback on our work we did. I am now able to learn and will be able to teach online because they teach me how to teach and learn online and which application is needed to enable online learning and teaching effectively. I also like to thank my colleagues in the training they were very helpful to me and other members to assist where we don’t know what to do and assist us with what we missed in a lesson and they were able to correctly use were wrong.

Conclusion

I enjoy the training because it was helpful to me and it makes me learn new things that I didn’t know. It also helps me to create new IT friends that I think we will assist each other in the future about information and technology services and courses.
